Part One of this was a list of all the break up songs I used to keep me inspired while I was writing the first half of A Midsummer Night’s Fling where my reunited lovers, Max and Nicola, are fighting to stay apart.
Towards the end of writing the book, though, I realized I didn’t have any happy songs for them on the playlist. And I needed to rectify that before I finished writing the happily ever after. Here’s a few of the ones I chose:
“My Life Would Suck Without You”–Glee Cast
This song is very much: “We’re so screwed up but I don’t even care. I missed you. I’m glad you’re back.” Also, hard to top that beat on the chorus.
“Into the Open Air”–The Brave Soundtrack
This one is sort of a transition song, especially for the heroine as she moves from being angry at her ex to realizing how much she missed him…and how much she still wants him.
“Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”–The Police
This song was the hero’s anthem for me. I feel like this song is just “I’m bouncing with happiness I’m so in love with you right now.” This song is that bubbly feeling you get in your stomach when you see that special person.
“I Only Want to Be With You”–Dusty Springfield
The heroine’s anthem at the end of the book.
“We Belong Together”–Toy Story 3 Soundtrack
Happy ending music! If this story were a film this would be the song they played over the end credits.
The full playlist is available here if you want to check it out.
