Weekend Writing Warriors: That’s a…nice name

Today’s Weekend Writing Warriors’ excerpt comes from my first contemporary romance, BEAUTY AND THE BOUNCER, which is currently on submission. This is the first meeting between my hero and heroine…

“Hi, I’m Lucy York, you must be the new bouncer.”

“Norm Keane.”

Norm? She stifled a snicker. “As in ‘Norman’?”

He nodded sheepishly. “Norm’s fine, though.”

What were his parents thinking?

Hope you enjoyed, and don’t forget to check out all the other 8 sentence excerpts this week. 😀

  1. That was funny, but if she already has a problem with his name I wonder what is going to happen between them.
Good luck with the submission, I hope the reader’s name is not Norman. 😉

  2. I’m sure his parents thought Norman was a nice name. There’s no way of knowing what people will think of a name in 20-30 years…

Poor guy is not getting off on the right foot with Lucy.

  3. Yeah, interesting banter, I’m wanting to know a little more about her. The name made me think of Canadian kid’s author Gordon Korman. 🙂 (Who I was initially remembering as Norman Korman)
